We’re approaching Samhain, the final harvest is drawing to a close, and the dark half of the year is preparing to settle in. The days are getting shorter, the nights are growing longer, and the natural world is beginning its annual process of withdrawing, conserving energy, and preparing for the quieter months ahead.

Everything in nature seems to understand that there is a time for activity and a time for stillness.
Everything except the people who keep sending me emails.
I don’t disagree with the seasonal wisdom. After more than forty years of living and practicing within the rhythms of the Pagan year, I understand it quite well. I simply haven’t figured out how to convince my responsibilities that we’re entering the dark half of the year and they should kindly leave me alone until Imbolc.
I’ve considered putting up a sign.
