I feel hopeful today because of a hard truth I am finally seeing clearly: we are learning the cost of silence.

I’ve been reflecting on a line from Philippa Gregory’s Boleyn Traitor, a novel about Jane Boleyn. As she nears the end of her life, Jane realizes that Katherine Howard is destined for the same fate as those before her. Speaking of the tyranny of Henry VIII, she speculates that they all should have said “no” when the first innocent fell—to the axe or the rope—so that someone would have been there to say “no” for them at the end. It is a chilling reminder: if we do not say “no” now, there will be no one left to say “no” for us later.

The Great Awakening

My broad hope is that the current “license to be vicious” is actually a massive, painful alarm clock. It is forcing those who were once indifferent to realize that we can no longer afford to look away. There is a certain power in this lack of ambiguity; the ridiculous arrogance of this vitriol has left no room for fence-sitting. Because the manifestation of this evil is so prevalent and so loud, everyone is forced to either condone it or denounce it.

I do not believe there are more hateful people in the country now than before, though that realization sent me into an emotional downward spiral in October 2025. I drastically underestimated how many truly awful people are out there. These mindsets have always existed, but they have now been legitimized and vindicated. Years of social suppression created a pressurized explosion of vitriol the moment that behavior was validated. But now, as the results of that explosion plays out in real-time, I believe saner minds will prevail.

We often view our living spaces as mere structures of wood, brick, and mortar. We clean them, we decorate them, and we protect them. But in many traditional practices, the home is more than a shelter—it is a living, breathing entity. Your home is a silent partner in your magical work, acting as a container for your energy and a guardian for your family. It is likely that part of you senses this vital truth.

When you treat your home as a partner rather than just a property, your magic becomes more grounded and your sanctuary more vibrant. Here is how to begin feeding the spirit of your home.

Recognizing the Heart of the Home

Every home has a “heart”—a central point where energy naturally congregates. In many traditions, this is the kitchen or the hearth, but it could be your altar. the dining room, a conversation area, or a specific central hallway lined with photos of people you love.

There is a distinct moment every morning, somewhere between the first screaming demand of my bladder – I swear, it is like a spoiled toddler – and the first creak of my ankles, where I lie perfectly still and perform a full-system diagnostic. I’m like a NASA engineer checking a 1970s satellite that’s been floating in deep space for way too long.

Oxygen levels? Stabilizing. Hydration? Critically low. Joints? Reporting back with a series of pops and clicks that sound suspiciously like a bowl of Rice Krispies.

As a Goddess of a certain vintage, I’ve realized that aging isn’t a slow, graceful decline. It’s more like a synchronized protest occurring faster than I ever imagined. It seems my body parts have formed a union, and they are currently on a collective strike. If one more important body part goes all Norma Rae on me, I’m just going to check myself into a facility that serves Jello way too often and smells like a hybrid of pee and antiseptic.

In the half-century since Green Egg first began chronicling the Awakening of Gaia, our community has moved from the shadowy fringes of the “Occult” section to the glittering center of the global marquee. In 2026, you can’t swing a ritual cord without hitting a streaming service featuring a teenage necromancer, a kitchen witch with a podcast, or a reimagined folk-horror deity.

But as the Witchy Aesthetic becomes a billion-dollar industry, we have to ask: Is Hollywood reflecting our soul, or just selling our skin?

As Pagans and Witches, our relationship with the screen is a complex one—a dance between the thrill of being seen and the sting of being distorted.

Two weeks ago, I will admit that I gave into ego. A friend of mine suggested that my prices for card readings were too low and not in keeping with the current market. I reflected on the fact that we have not raised any of our prices on the website since 2018 and wondered if I might be devaluing what I do. Because I do that sometimes.

I am not given to fits of ego as a rule, but now and then, it feels nice to indulge. After conferring with another friend whose opinion I trust, I raised the prices on my readings.

A week or so later, another friend approached me rather hesitantly and suggested that maybe this was not the best time to raise prices when people are struggling to such a degree. I deeply appreciated her candor and willingness to broach what could have been a difficult conversation.

There is a recurring myth in the textile industry that the moment a woman’s dress size enters the double digits, her aesthetic preference immediately reverts to “Grandma’s Guest Bedroom.”

I have spent years scouring the racks for clothing that says “I am a powerful, sophisticated woman of a certain vintage,” only to be met with a sea of cabbage roses and puff sleeves that make me look less like a Goddess and more like a very large, upholstered ottoman. It is a mystery of the modern world: why does the fashion industry believe that the more surface area we have, the more cartoon characters we want to wear on our chests?

These are hand-rolled beeswax tapers, measuring approximately 9 inches, specifically designed to act as a catalyst for your long-term spellwork.
There comes a time in every Goddess’s life when she realizes that her internal plumbing has transitioned from a high-speed fiber-optic network to a dial up modem.

When we were twenty, we lived on black coffee, cold pizza, and pure spite, and our systems didn’t skip a beat. But as we move into our sovereign years, our insides decide to adopt a more meditative, glacial pace. Suddenly, a trip to the bathroom isn’t just a routine pit stop; it’s a high-stakes dramatic event—a physical labor so intense you’re tempted to call a midwife and start practicing Lamaze breathing.

We are exactly one week away from the Great Fire Festival. The Maypoles are being prepped, the ribbons are being dyed, and across the Northern Hemisphere, the sap is rising with a ferocity that feels both ancient and urgent.

In the popular imagination, Beltane is often reduced to two things: a bonfire and a license to express our sexuality. And while we at Green Egg will never turn down a good fire or a celebration of sacred sensuality, to stop there is to miss the marrow of the Sabbat.

Beltane is not just a party; it is an expression of the eternal regeneration of life. And in 2026, as we face a rare alignment of the Sabbat with a Full Moon in Scorpio, the message of Beltane is deeper—and more necessary—than ever.

April 22nd is right around the corner. In the secular world, Earth Day is often reduced to a few hours of picking up litter or sharing a “Blue Marble” photo on social media. But for those of us whose altar is the soil and whose scripture is the wind, Earth Day 2026 feels different. It feels less like a celebration and more like a summoning.

As we stand in mid-April, the scientific reports tell us we are at a crossroads. We are exiting a period of relative oceanic stability and entering an El Niño cycle that threatens to bring record-breaking heat and drought to much of the West. While the world debates policy, the Earth is already making her move.
